Shimla: Rajeev Bindal, state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Himachal Pradesh, described the inauguration of the “Bhagwanti Devi Hostel” for 200 students in Goilkera, Ranchi district of Jharkhand as one of the most emotional and proud moments of his life.
Bindal said the hostel has been named in memory of his mother, late Bhagwanti Devi, and it is especially meaningful because it has been built on the same tribal land where he began service work nearly four decades ago. He said returning to the region brought back many memories of working among the tribal community through medical services and other social initiatives of the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram.
He added that despite limited resources and challenging circumstances at the time, serving the tribal community had been a deeply enriching experience. The construction of a hostel for 200 children on the same land now stands as a symbol of dedication, service and commitment to society.
Bindal said the hostel will provide tribal students with better opportunities for education and help them contribute to nation-building.
On the occasion, he paid tribute to Balasaheb Deshpande, founder of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, and also remembered Madhav Sadashivrao Golwalkar, the second Sarsanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, whose inspiration led to the establishment of the organization and expansion of service projects for tribal welfare.
Bindal said the occasion also reminded him of the values and blessings of his parents, which inspired him to dedicate his life to social service. He expressed his resolve to continue working for the nation and society with the same spirit in the future.
