On the occasion of World Photography Day, the Interact Club: Bishop Cotton School in association with its Sponsor Club, Rotary Shimla, organized a ‘Professional Photography’ Workshop on campus.
The event was attended by the President: Rotary Club, two Rotarians, the Headmaster: Mr. M. P. John, Faculty Incharge: Photography Club (Mr. Asshur Wilson) and Faculty Advisor: Mrs. Rose Lal.
Resource Persons included three distinguished professionals who conducted the workshop:
• Mr. Prashant Salhotra, President: Outdoor Photography, The Ridge, Shimla
• Mr. Vikram Sharma, Director: Timba Films &
• Mr. Varun Thakur: A Travel Creator
Programme Highlights:
The session began with a presentation on Photography Basics, covering:
• Camera essentials – lens, shutter, and types of cameras
• Key aspects of a good photograph – light, background, and placement of the subject
• Types of photographs – layered, frame within a frame, portrait, silhouette to mention a few.
This was followed by an interactive session and a practical exercise, where participants were divided into three groups, each guided by a professional photographer. The workshop concluded with a A feedback session on the photographs clicked.

Although aerial photography with drones could not be carried out due to inclement weather, the workshop proved to be an enriching, memorable and fun experience for Cottonians.
