The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Legislature Party in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the Governor, raising concerns over the alleged delay in the release of the MLA Area Development Fund and Discretionary Fund by the state government.
In the memorandum dated February 6, 2026, BJP MLAs stated that the current state government has not released funds under the MLA Area Development Scheme since October 2025. They claimed that the delay has created hurdles in carrying out development works and fulfilling commitments made to the public in their respective constituencies.
The legislators also pointed out that despite budgetary provisions, the funds have not been disbursed, affecting ongoing and proposed development projects. They emphasized that the delay is particularly concerning in view of the damage caused by heavy rains in parts of the state, where immediate financial support is required for relief and rehabilitation works.
The BJP MLAs further alleged that opposition legislators’ priority works are not being approved, and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) related to their recommendations are pending clearance.
Through the memorandum, the BJP Legislature Party urged the Governor to intervene and direct the state government to release the MLA Area Development Fund and Discretionary Fund at the earliest, and to ensure timely approval of development proposals so that public welfare projects are not hampered.
The party maintained that timely release of funds is essential to accelerate development activities and address public grievances across Himachal Pradesh.
