Shimla। Vice-President of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, Naresh Chauhan has criticized the BJP for resorting to low-level politics, contrasting it with the Congress’s readiness to discuss the achievements of the current state government’s 15-month tenure. In a press conference here today, Chauhan emphasized the importance of elections focusing on public issues. He said that present state government, led by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has presented historic budgets and initiatives like providing minimum support price on milk, enhancing the MNREGA wages. Chauhan also praised the state government’s efforts to sell apples on a kilo basis, increase the minimum support price of apples and enhance infrastructure for setting-up CA stores and introduction of universal cartons fro apple sale from the next season.
The Vice President of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee said that Himachal Pradesh has become the first state in the country to grant a monthly pension of Rs 1500 to women above 18 years old. Additionally, 2.74 lakh women who previously received pensions ranging from Rs 1000 to 1100 are also now receiving Rs 1500 per month. Criticizing the BJP, he stated that during recent disasters, the state government took significant action while the BJP remained inactive. When a resolution was proposed in the HP Vidhan Sabha to declare the disaster a national one, no BJP MLAs supported it. Despite inheriting an empty coffer from the previous BJP government, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu implemented numerous welfare schemes. In contrast to the previous BJP government’s reliance on loans, Jairam Thakur’s double engine government rhetoric. He also alleged that recruitment papers were sold under the previous BJP regime, whereas the present Congress government cracked down on corruption and safeguarded the future of the youth.
Naresh Chauhan criticized the BJP-led Union Government, stating their ten-year tenure has been disappointing. Now BJP ledaers focusing on politics of religion and caste rather than addressing real issues like inflation, unemployment, and women’s safety. He highlighted the widening gap between the rich and the poor, pointing out the enrichment of the Prime Minister’s friends while the public receives 5 KG flour. He questioned if this is the BJP’s model of development. Additionally, the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee’s Vice President said that BJP State President Dr. Rajiv Bindal, who accuses the present state government of failure, was previously removed due to corruption charges, highlighting the irony in his criticism.
