Hamirpur, March 12: Senior Himachal Pradesh BJP spokesperson and former Sujanpur MLA Rajendra Rana has raised questions over the recent Delhi visit of Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, alleging that changes in the Chief Minister’s schedule and his stay at a hotel in Delhi have raised several doubts.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Rana said the Chief Minister’s official tour programme indicated that he was scheduled to travel from Delhi to Shimla and reach there on March 2. However, instead of following the planned schedule, Sukhu reportedly stayed for around 23 hours at Radisson Hotel.
Rana alleged that Room No. 411 at the hotel had been booked under another person’s name and questioned the circumstances under which the Chief Minister stayed there. He asked what developments took place during those 23 hours that led to the sudden change in the Chief Minister’s travel schedule.
According to Rana, the Chief Minister’s official tour plan was neither cancelled nor revised, despite the change in his movement. He further stated that Sukhu eventually reached Shimla around 4 pm on March 3, nearly a day later than the scheduled time, which he said has raised several questions.
The BJP leader also questioned who met the Chief Minister in Room No. 411 during this period and what discussions took place, particularly as the stay coincided with the period just before the Rajya Sabha elections.
Rana remarked that since the matter involves the Chief Minister of the state, transparency in public life is expected, and meetings held under such circumstances could lead to speculation. He also questioned why a hotel room was used for meetings when government facilities like Himachal Bhawan and Himachal Sadan are available in Delhi.
Alleging that the issue could have wider political implications, Rana claimed that developments related to these meetings have created discussions within political circles and said that more details may emerge in the coming days.
He added that the people of the state deserve clarity regarding the entire episode.
