The oldest British-era Shanan hydropower project at Jogindernagar that is with the Punjab Government till 2024 is in bad condition.
The lease of the project will expire in 2024, afterwards, it will be handed over to the Himachal Government.
The Punjab Government has failed to maintain the buildings, ropeway trolley service and other apparatus.
CM Jai Ram Thakur and MLA of Joginder Nagar Parkash Rana had asked the Centre and demanded immediate transfer of the power house to Himachal Pradesh to prevent the condition from aggravating.
