Hailing the Union Budget 2026 as a transformative roadmap for a developed and self-reliant India, Himachal Pradesh BJP President Dr. Rajeev Bindal said the financial blueprint reflects the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and sets a strong foundation for inclusive growth and economic expansion.
Describing the budget presented by Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman as more than just a financial statement, Dr. Bindal termed it a comprehensive strategy focused on investment, industrial growth, employment generation, social security, and fulfilling the aspirations of ordinary citizens.
He emphasized that the Modi government has consistently prioritized reforms over rhetoric, ensuring direct benefits to people while maintaining strong macroeconomic stability and sustaining an average growth rate of around 7 percent. “Self-reliance has become the core principle of India’s economic policy,” he stated.
Calling it historically significant, Dr. Bindal noted that this is the first budget prepared at Kartavya Bhavan. He highlighted the three key objectives outlined by the Finance Minister — accelerating economic growth through investment and employment generation, meeting public expectations with expanded opportunities and facilities, and ensuring inclusive development under the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’.
Focusing on Himachal Pradesh, Dr. Bindal said the state stands to gain substantially. Under its 1.217 percent share in central taxes, Himachal will receive ₹13,949.97 crore, which will provide fresh momentum to development projects, welfare schemes, education, healthcare, rural infrastructure, and public services.
He further welcomed the announcement of eco-friendly mountain corridors for hill states including Himachal Pradesh, calling it a major step toward boosting tourism, connectivity, and employment. He said the emphasis on biodiversity and tourism promotion would directly benefit hotels, homestays, eco-tourism ventures, and local artisans.
Dr. Bindal also termed the proposed Medical Tourism Hub and strengthening of the AYUSH sector as significant opportunities for the state, which has a rich heritage of medicinal plants and traditional healthcare systems. The establishment of new Ayurveda institutes and modernization of drug testing laboratories, he said, would enhance Himachal’s role in wellness tourism.
The ₹10,000 crore Bio Pharma Shakti Project, he added, will be a game changer for the Baddi-Solan pharmaceutical belt, attracting investment and generating employment. Additionally, over ₹7 lakh crore funding support to MSMEs through TREDS will empower small industries, food processing units, startups, and local entrepreneurs across the state.
Highlighting the record capital expenditure of ₹12.2 lakh crore for infrastructure, Dr. Bindal said that high-speed rail corridors, freight networks, waterways development, and a ₹20,000 crore carbon capture initiative signal India’s commitment to green growth. He added that Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities like Shimla, Mandi, Solan, and Kangra are poised to benefit from this infrastructure thrust.
Concluding, Dr. Rajeev Bindal said that Union Budget 2026 marks a decisive step towards a developed Himachal and a prosperous India, opening new avenues in tourism, pharma, AYUSH, mountain infrastructure, youth employment, and women empowerment.
