An expert lecture on “Analytical Practices in Pharmaceutical Industry” was organized by the School of Sciences, Baddi University of Emerging Sciences and Technology, on 11th April, 2025. Mr. Anant Naik, a veteran pharmaceutical consultant and trainer with over three decades of experience in the pharmaceutical sector, was invited as the keynote speaker.
The session was graced by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) J.K. Sharma. He addressed the audience and highlighted the importance of practical knowledge and industrial exposure in academics, especially in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.
The expert talk aimed to impart a deeper understanding of analytical practices and quality systems followed in the pharmaceutical industry. Mr. Anant Naik shared his vast experience, having worked with several prestigious pharmaceutical organizations such as Unichem Laboratories, Rubicon Research, Colorcon Asia, Encube Ethicals, and German Remedies, among others.
During the session, he covered a wide array of topics including pharmaceutical laws, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), formulation development, oral solid dosage forms, and clinical research practices. He discussed the critical role of analysts in maintaining the integrity of pharmaceutical analysis through sampling techniques, chemical analysis, and use of analytical instrumentation.
He further explained the differences between generic and branded drugs and addressed serious concerns related to substandard medicines. Mr. Naik also emphasized the importance of data integrity, financial management, and basic operational knowledge required to work efficiently in a pharmaceutical setup. His focus on the discipline and ethics in maintaining quality systems under CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) added immense value to the session. The talk was highly engaging and informative. It provided students and faculty members with real-world insights into pharmaceutical operations, regulatory expectations, and analytical practices. It bridged the gap between academic learning and industrial application and motivated attendees to align their skills with industry standards.
