In the Shimla district, thieves entered an old Mata Mandir and took silver jewelry and cash. The event happened in Bageshwar village, which is under the jurisdiction of the Deha police station. Police have opened an investigation and filed a case.
Victim Ramesh Chand told police that when he reached the temple again, the latch of the main door was broken and the door was half open. On going inside, he found that the lock of the donation box was broken and all the cash kept in it was missing.
The thieves stole not only cash but also many valuables. These included a silver stick with a gold egg embedded in it. Apart from this, four small silver idols and a silver necklace decorated with 11 silver coins were also stolen. The total value of the stolen items is said to be around Rs 90,000.
After receiving the complaint, Deha police station took immediate action. They have registered a case under sections 331(4) and 305 of the Indian Penal Code. Police officials say that they are investigating the matter thoroughly and are trying to catch the thieves soon. The local people are very angry due to this theft. People are worried about the safety of this ancient temple and are demanding the police to arrest the accused as soon as possible.
