Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has made a serious allegation against the central government of trampling democratic traditions. In a statement issued from Shimla, he said that when Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Congress General Secretary and MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and leaders of India Alliance were appealing to protect democracy by taking out a peaceful march against vote theft and electoral malpractices on Monday, they were detained by the police at the behest of the central government, which is a black day for democracy. Agnihotri said that Rahul Gandhi has made a big disclosure in front of the country that lakhs of fake voters have been added in many constituencies, in which votes are registered in the name of the same person at different places. This is not only a serious irregularity in the election process, but is an act that shakes the foundation of democracy.
He has said that the attempt to suppress the voice of the people in this way is not only undemocratic, but it also shows that the government is afraid of the truth. He has said that no power can stop the fight for truth and neither can the voice of India be silenced. The Deputy Chief Minister stressed that the Congress and India Alliance will continue to fight at every level to protect democracy and will keep informing the people of the country about such truths. He said that fake voter list, misuse of power and suppression of the voice of the opposition, all these are proof of the fact that the central government is running away from transparency.
BJP’s desperation came to the fore: Pratibha Singh
Congress State President Pratibha Singh has also strongly criticized the arrest of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and MPs of other allied parties outside Parliament. She has said that this step reflects the BJP’s desperation towards Rahul Gandhi after he exposed the facts of vote theft. Pratibha Singh has said in a statement issued from Shimla that the BJP-led central government will neither be afraid of any dictatorial, oppressive policies and tactics nor will it back down from its responsibility.
How was fake voting allowed to happen
Pratibha Singh has said that the Election Commission should investigate the facts exposed by Rahul Gandhi. He said that the country wants to know how the Election Commission allowed such a large-scale insult to public opinion, vote theft and fraudulent voting to take place.
