CM Sukhu’s initiative brings results, roads and buildings damaged by floods and landslides will be rebuilt
Shimla. A big relief news has come for Himachal Pradesh, which is facing natural disasters and economic challenges. The World Bank has approved a multilateral aid project called “Disaster Recovery and Resilience Strengthening” to strengthen the disaster management capabilities and rebuild the disaster-affected areas of the state. A total of Rs 2388 crore will be spent under this project, out of which Rs 2150 crore will be borne by the World Bank, while the remaining amount will be provided by the state government.
Disaster-affected people will get relief
This project has been approved at a time when Himachal Pradesh has been continuously affected by disasters like monsoon devastation, landslides and cloudbursts. The heavy devastation last year has caused severe damage to the infrastructure of the state. A large number of schools, roads, bridges, drinking water schemes and government buildings have been damaged. In such a situation, this financial assistance will not only become an economic support for the state, but will also help in bringing the pace of development back on track.
CM Sukhu had discussed with Union Finance Minister
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had recently discussed this subject in detail with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during his visit to Delhi. After the positive results of the meeting, the central government has given in-principle approval for this project of the World Bank. A high-level team of the World Bank has already reached Shimla and met the Chief Secretary of the state Prabodh Saxena and a preliminary survey has also been done.
