Due to the continuous landslides in Himachal Pradesh, many major roads have been closed for vehicular movement, due to which normal life has been badly affected. Travelers and local people are facing huge difficulties in movement.
The Chakkimor-Bhojnagar road in Solan district, especially near Tadol, has completely collapsed. Due to this, people have to travel an additional 30 kilometers to reach their destination. This road borders Sirmaur district and residents of 12 panchayats use this road to go to Parwanoo. The difficulties of the people of all these areas have increased considerably due to the closure of the road. The supply of essential commodities and daily traffic have also been affected.
About half a meter of the four-lane has collapsed at Diod between Mandi and Kullu. This has once again put this important four-lane in danger. Due to continuous rain in the area, this part of the road is continuously sinking downwards. Let us tell you that this is the same area which was also badly damaged during the heavy rains of 2023. The danga (wall) installed on the side of the road can also fall at any time now, which has not only increased the risk of complete collapse of the route but has also posed a serious risk to the lives of thousands of vehicles and passengers passing through here.
Varun Chari, Project Director, NHAI Mandi unit, said that the matter is in his knowledge and necessary action is being taken. He said that there has been upper settlement (land sliding) in the four-lane near Diod and an inspection will be done soon to take stock of the situation. Both the local administration and NHAI are making efforts to normalize the situation and ensure the safety of the passengers.
