Shimla, September 01.
The state’s water crisis has also affected the Peeran Panchayat in the Kusumpti Assembly constituency. There is a risk of houses falling in the majority of this Panchayat’s wards because to landslides that occur near people’s homes.
The two-room home of Sheela Dutt, the late Jeetram’s son, in the hamlet of Chalog in this Panchayat’s ward Dayothi is in danger. Sheela Dutt stated that she comes from a family of farmers and makes her living by working the land, among other things. She explained that on August 14, a landslide happened just in front of the two-room concrete house she had built two years prior using every penny she had earned through hard work.
There is a risk that the home would collapse because of the rising landslide caused by the ongoing rain. An effort has been made to cover the landslide area with tarps with the assistance of the locals in order to prevent water leaks and protect it from rain. Sheela Dutt stated that she has not yet gotten any assistance.
Pradhan and the local Panchayat representative have also been made aware of this. In addition, a landslide happened close to the home of Hira Singh, son of Rikhi Ram of Mandhar village; the family has been told to seek shelter elsewhere. The road is frequently obstructed as a result of Thund Nala, which is adjacent to Peeran Panchayat, being in spate. In addition, there is a sense of terror among the populace since the ground next to numerous homes in villages like Satlai, Tri, Peeran, Dhali Bagda, etc., is crumbling.
At the same time, the Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Peeran, Kiran Sharma, said that wherever there is damage due to landslide in the Panchayat, the higher officials are being informed after taking stock of the situation.
