The followers of Kartikeya Swami Kugti carried out the custom of breaking the Dal by floating coconuts, despite the fact that the practice could not be carried out this year since the gurus of Lord Shiva of Sanchui village were unable to visit Mani Mahesh on Radhastami.
The video, which shows Kugti’s followers shattering the Dal by completing Puja-Archana with all the necessary rites and ceremonies, is currently going popular on social media. Even though there weren’t many Shiva devotees in Dal Lake at the time, Kartikeya Swami’s followers carried on the custom by making it to Dal Lake despite the challenging conditions.
It is said that despite the severe weather, just six followers from the Kartikeya Swami temple made it to Dal Lake. They were the only ones authorized to enter here. Mahadev’s eldest son, Kartikeya Swami, also known as Kelang Bajir, is revered as the world’s savior. Only on Kartikeya Swami’s disciples’ commands is the annual ceremony of breaking the Dal carried out.
On Radhastami, the Guru had gone to Mani Mahesh to shatter the Dal under police protection, but he had to go back since the road beyond Hadsar was destroyed. It is thought that the royal bathing time doesn’t start until the Sanchui followers have finished the ceremony of breaking the Dal with devotion in the lake on the day of Radhastami.
