A team of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has arrested the kingpin of a gang supplying charas in Chandigarh and the tricity with the help of his accomplices. The arrested accused has been identified as Gopal Prasad Shrestha (56), a resident of Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. The police have also recovered 19.9 kg of charas from the possession of the accused. The ANTF team nabbed the kingpin of the gang at the instance of his accomplices, who were arrested with one kg of charas recently.
According to the police, the accused have been identified as Vikram (25), a resident of Kullu, Mohit alias Golu, a resident of Hisar, and a minor. The accused were arrested when they alighted from a Haryana-bound bus. The police recovered 1 kg 19 grams of charas from the possession of the accused. During interrogation, the accused told the police that they used to bring the consignment from Kasol in Kullu. After this, he used to supply this consignment of drugs to Chandigarh, Tricity and Haryana. The police have arrested two of the accused and sent the minor to a juvenile home.
The accused used to supply charas from Gopal Prasad to Chandigarh and Haryana at exorbitant rates. The accused is also a drug addict. Among the accused, Mohit has 7 cases registered against him in his village. While Vikram has an NDPS case registered against him in Kullu, the minor and Gopal Prasad have no previous cases registered against them.
