Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur presided over a meeting of the state level committee of International Folk Dance Festival Kullu Dussehra-2022 here today. A detailed discussion on various issues related to organization of the Kullu Dussehra was held on this occasion. This international level festival will be organized from 5th to 11th October this year.
The Chief Minister said that fairs and festivals represent our rich culture and heritage. The State Government is committed towards conservation of these fairs and festivals and has been taking various steps in this direction, said the Chief Minister. He said that Kullu Dussehra was not only famous in Himachal Pradesh and India but it was a festival of international repute for its unique traditions and rituals. He said that the Kullu Dussehra begins at a time when dussehra festivities conclude in the rest of the country. It is a symbol of our religious beliefs and cultural values, added the Chief Minister.
Jai Ram Thakur directed to complete all the preparations for Dussehra festival in a time bound manner. He also directed to showcase the glorious journey of Himachal Pradesh through exhibitions during the festival, to mark the 75 years of the formation of the State. He directed the department of Information and Public Relations to prepare documentaries based on the theme “Himachal then and now” and ensure their screening during the festival. These documentaries would highlight the progress made by the state in various sectors including the Public Works, Jal Shakti, Health, Education, Tourism, Energy, Industries, Agriculture and Horticulture etc., he added. The Chief Minister also directed to ensure proper security arrangements, uninterrupted power supply and other necessary facilities during the festival.
Education, Language, Art and Culture Minister Govind Singh Thakur said that the District Level Committee, District Kardar Sangh and other organizations of the district Kullu had already started the preparations for Dussehra festival.
The income & expenditure of Dussehra festival committee of previous year and other important issues were also discussed in the meeting. It was decided that all the deities of the district would be invited for the Dussehra festival. The cultural troupes of various states of the country would also be invited and all the religious rituals will be conducted in the traditional manner during the festival.

MLA Kishori Lal, former MP Maheshwar Singh, Chief Secretary R.D. Dhiman, Additional Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Principal Secretary, Information and Public Relations Subhashish Panda, Secretary, Language, Art and Culture Department Rakesh Kanwar, Deputy Commissioner Kullu Ashutosh Garg, Superintendent of Police Kullu Gurudev Sharma and other senior officers, Office bearers of Kullu District Kardar Sangh were also present in the meeting.
