The state government is now covering the wedding expenses of Himachal Pradesh’s Children of the State. The state government’s ambitious scheme is significantly benefiting the Children of the State.
Under the Chief Minister’s Sukh Ashray Yojana, the state government provides financial assistance of ₹2 lakh for the marriage of children who do not have guardians. Of this amount, ₹60,000 is kept as an FD, which can be used in the future if needed.
In Shimla district, financial assistance has been released to 05 children of the state so far in this financial year, whereas there are a total of 227 such beneficiaries in Himachal Pradesh.
Case No. 1
Vibhuti Mastana, a resident of Kothi Village, Himri, Jubbal Block, Shimla District, lost her parents some time ago. When Vibhuti learned about the Chief Minister’s Sukh Ashray Yojana, she applied for it with all her documents. Before her marriage, Vibhuti was receiving ₹4,000 per month. Meanwhile, Vibhuti got engaged and applied for financial assistance for her marriage under the Chief Minister’s Sukh Ashray Yojana. After completing all the formalities, she received financial assistance of ₹2 lakh. Vibhuti shared that under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the Chief Minister’s Sukh Ashray Yojana is proving to be very helpful. Only those who have lost their parents understand the challenges of life without parents. In such circumstances, the implementation of such a scheme by the state government and the adoption of such children as Children of the State, ensuring their future, is a significant achievement. The financial assistance provided for my wedding has put an end to my worries. I now have an FD of 60,000 rupees from this amount, which I can use if needed in the future. I express my special gratitude to the Chief Minister of the state for this scheme.
Case No. 2
Pooja Thakur, a resident of Shimla Rural, lost her parents when she was a child. Since childhood, Pooja and her elder brother have been raised by their maternal aunt. When the state government launched the Chief Minister’s Sukh Ashray Yojana, Pooja Thakur applied for benefits. After completing all the necessary documents, she began receiving monthly financial assistance of 4,000 rupees. Pooja also completed her 12th grade. During this time, Pooja was engaged to Khem Chand. Under the scheme, Pooja was provided financial assistance of 2 lakh rupees for her marriage. Pooja explained that 2 lakh rupees is a significant amount for her. Had the government’s scheme not been implemented, she would have had to take out a loan to cover the wedding expenses. However, the government’s scheme provided a very good arrangement for the wedding expenses. She said that the Chief Minister has implemented an excellent scheme for the community. She hopes that the government will continue to implement similar schemes for the benefit of society.
What is the Chief Minister’s Sukh Ashray Yojana?
The Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu government of Himachal Pradesh launched the Chief Minister’s Sukh Ashray Yojana in 2023. Under this scheme, the government has adopted over 4,100 children. The Chief Minister’s Sukh Ashray Yojana covers orphans, semi-orphans, the specially-abled, destitute women, and senior citizens. This scheme provides them with all possible assistance. Under this scheme, orphaned and abandoned children receive a monthly government assistance of ₹1,000 until the age of 14 and ₹2,500 per month until the age of 18. Additionally, children receive ₹4,000 per month in pocket money until the age of 27. The state government will bear the entire cost of their higher education until the age of 27 and provide ₹3,000 for PG expenses if a hostel is not available. Financial assistance is also provided for studies, business and start-ups, home construction, and marriage. Financial assistance of Rs 02 lakh is provided for marriage.
Assistance given to 05 beneficiaries in the district – Deputy Commissioner
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, while providing information, said that the Chief Minister’s Sukh Ashray Yojana is one of the most important schemes of the state government. The state government now serves as the guardians of children whose parents are no longer alive. The state government is covering all expenses for their education, housing, marriage, and living until the age of 27 as Children of the State. So far, five Children of the State have received financial assistance for marriage in the district.
