As per the instructions of the state government, the Solan district administration is implementing the ‘Chitta Mukt Solan’ campaign against the drug Chitta under the Chitta Mukt Himachal Abhiyan. Under the campaign, extensive activities are being conducted from October 15, 2025 to March 31, 2025. The objective of these activities is to create awareness among the people in the district against drugs, take action against those involved in drug trafficking, and ensure the rehabilitation of the victims. This information was given here today by Deputy Commissioner Solan Manmohan Sharma.
He said that the district administration has prepared a detailed action plan for weekly activities as part of the campaign. According to this action plan, extensive participation of all departments, educational institutions, village panchayats, and voluntary organizations is being ensured.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that as part of the campaign, awareness rallies, walkathons, and cyclothons, along with public outreach programs, are being regularly organized. Poster, slogan writing, essay, and cultural competitions are being held in schools and colleges. He added that drug prevention committees have been formed in all gram panchayats in the district, and their meetings are being held actively.
Manmohan Sharma said that under the campaign, the Health and Family Welfare Department is organizing de-addiction camps on a daily basis and providing counselling services and making people aware against drug addiction.
He said that the Social Justice and Empowerment Department is training volunteers against drug abuse and organizing widespread awareness activities. The police department is identifying and taking strict action against those involved in the drug trade.
Manmohan Sharma said that nodal officers have been nominated for the campaign by all the sub-divisional magistrates of the district so that the operation of the campaign remains smooth.
He said that he himself is ensuring daily monitoring of the campaign, so that the results and effectiveness of the campaign can be continuously monitored.
He said, “Chitta is the biggest blow to the future of our society, especially our youth. The ‘Chitta Free Solan’ campaign is not just an administrative effort, but a collective social commitment. We consider all departments, institutions, panchayats, voluntary organizations, and citizens integral to this initiative. I urge all parents, youth, teachers, and citizens to actively participate in this fight against drug addiction. Your small awareness can save a home, a child, and ultimately, the entire society.”
