The renowned Christ Church in Shimla will perform an enactment of the birth of Jesus Christ in an effort to combine Himachal Pradesh culture with Christmas, one of the year’s most anticipated celebrations. The fact that the manger scene will be performed entirely in the local vernacular by women is likely to make it even more distinctive.
This is the first time the birth scene will be shown in Pahadi at the church. During the performance, actors will dress in Himachali clothing, exhibiting a fusion of Christianity and local culture. In addition, a unique “Pahadi natti” will be performed by ladies as part of the Christmas festivities.
Communicating with CRAZY NEWS INDIA Christ Church’s priest in charge, Anita Roy, said that the church would be open on Christmas and host several events, including caroling, a Bible reading, a sermon, and other kid-focused programs. There will be a feast to cap off the celebration.
