Shimla, September 27
The Department of Industries, Government of Himachal Pradesh, organised an awareness workshop at the Business Center, Shoghi, Shimla, to strengthen the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) ecosystem in the state with a focus on technology, competitiveness, and sustainable practices.
Addressing the workshop, Mr. Sanjay Kanwar, General Manager, Department of Industries, Shimla, highlighted that under the cluster system, MSMEs will be provided access to high-end technology, heavy machinery, and tools at the cluster level free of cost—resources that would otherwise require significant investment if procured individually. He added that the Department of Industries is providing these facilities under the Cluster Development Programme.
Mr. Kanwar also briefed participants on the Micro and Small Enterprises Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP) and the Greening of MSMEs initiative, emphasizing their role in enhancing competitiveness, encouraging cluster-based growth, and promoting sustainable practices. Participants were also briefed about the SPICE and GIFT schemes.
Many participants from district Shimla attended the interactive session, where deliberations also focused on Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) and innovative circular economy-based approaches for greening industries. Discussions revolved around strategies to boost productivity, improve resource efficiency, and build long-term resilience for small businesses.
