Cancer hospital to be constructed at Jol- Sapad
While inaugurating the first Cultural evening of the National Level Holi Festival at Sujanpur Tihra in Hamirpur district on Sunday late evening, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu extended his best wishes to the people of the State and said that with the blessings and cooperation of the people, Himachal Pradesh would become the country’s most prosperous State in the next ten years.
Addressing the occasion, the Chief Minister said that such festivals are symbols of our fraternity, our unique cultural heritage and deep rooted traditions, which needs to be passed on to the coming generations, so that they could be made familiar with traditional and cultural heritage of the State. The festival of colours may bring prosperity and harmony in the life of the people of the state, wished the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister, on the request of local MLA Rajinder Rana, announced construction of a new bus stand at Sujanpur and to increase of bed capacity from 50 beds to 100 beds in the Sujanpur Civil Hospital with modern facilities from the next financial year.
Sh. Sukhu announced opening of a degree college in Tauni Devi of Sujanpur assembly segment in the next financial year with adequate infrastructure and staff and starting of Economics and English classes in Sujanpur College. He also announced the opening of a division of Jal Shakti Vibhag and Electricity Board in Sujanpur with proper funding arrangements.
The Chief Minister also announced construction of eighteen Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding Schools in the next financial year in the State for which land had already been identified. He said the State Government has planned to build these schools in each assembly constituency of the state in a phased manner. The schools will be built on more than 100 kanal of land and will provide modern facilities and quality education to the students.
However, for achieving the targets as set, the Chief Minister said that tough decisions were required to be taken to strengthen the economy of the State. Blaming the previous BJP government for unmindful spending, he said that the development of the entire state was hampered during the last five years of BJP regime and was concentrated only in a few regions. “We will make more strides in the next 10 years and take the state to new heights,” said the Chief Minister. The previous BJP government had opened and upgraded more than 900 institutions during last six months of its tenure without any budget and handed over empty coffers to us, leaving no funds for development, yet we are committed to create our own resources and will have to take few stringent measures, and will come out of this financial crisis soon which will pave the wave for equitable development of the State, he added.
The State Government has started Mukhyamantri Sukh-Aashray Yojana for orphan children. Under this scheme, the Government will adopt orphan children as “Children of the State” and would provide full funding for their higher education, pocket money, etc.
Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the State Government would construct a world class Cancer Hospital at Jol Sapad in district Hamirpur in the next three years. He said that the facility of robotic surgery would be introduced in Medical College Hamirpur shortly in order to facilitate the patients. By implementing the old pension, the State Government has fulfilled its first promise and all other guarantees will also be fulfilled in a phased manner, he added.
The Chief Minister also released the souvenir of the Festival on the occasion.
Earlier, MLA Rajinder Rana welcomed Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on visiting Sujanpur assembly constituency for the first time after assuming office of Chief Minister. He said that the development of Sujanpur had stalled in the last five years and added that his constituency would establish new dimensions of development under the leadership of Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
Deputy Commissioner, Debasweta Banik detailed out various activities being organized during the fair and also honoured the Chief Minister on the occasion.
