Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated and laid foundation stones of developmental projects worth Rs. 22 crore in Shahpur Vidhan Sabha area of Kangra district through video conferencing from Shimla.
Chief Minister inaugurated Rs. 2.09 crore Kalyan Bhawan at Rait. He also laid foundation stones of Rs. 4.83 crore upgradation of link road Chambi-Banala-Sakoh to be constructed under PMGSY, Rs. 10.03 crore improvement of distribution system of various Water Supply Schemes and providing Har Ghar Nal Se Jal under Jal Jeevan Mission in Shahpur tehsil and Rs. 5.07 crore improvement of various Water Supply Schemes in Shahpur constituency under Jal Jeevan Mission Phase-II.
While addressing the people of Shahpur from Shimla, Jai Ram Thakur said that the State Government has decided to virtually inaugurate and lay foundation stone of various developmental projects in the State, for uninterrupted pace of development. He said that the State Government also decided to go for online functions to discourage large social gathering to check the spread of this virus.
Chief Minister said that the present State Government was completing three years of its tenure on 27th of this month. He said the State Government during these three years had ensured balanced and equitable development of all areas of the State and every section of the society. He said that although the State has also been adversely affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but at the same time the Government has taken several steps to ensure that the pace of development does not get affected.
Jai Ram Thakur said that the State Government has also decided to strictly enforce the limit up to fifty persons in social, cultural and political functions. He said that any violation in this respect would be dealt strictly. He said that due to the sharp spike in the number of corona cases, the State Government decided to cancel the winter session of Vidhan Sabha at Dharamshala. He said that it was unfortunate the opposition leaders were trying to politicize this whole issue. He reminded these leaders that the same Opposition when in power in 2014, adjourned the 16 days session after five days.
Chief Minister thanked the people of Shahpur Vidhan Sabha area for distributing 50 thousand masks to the needy and also for contributing about Rs. 14 lakh towards CM Covid fund and PM CAREs fund. He said that this amount would go a long way in providing relief to the needy and deserving people.
Chief Minister said that State Government would sympathetically consider to start science classes in Government Senior Secondary Schools, Boh and Manei and commerce classes in Government Senior Secondary School Gharoh. He said that State Government would also consider to start science classes in Government Degree College Lanj.
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister and local MLA Sarveen Chaudhary, while thanking the Chief Minister for laying the foundation stones and dedicating developmental projects worth crores of rupees, said that the Rs. 10 crore Jal Jeevan Mission would go a long way in solving the water problem of the people of the area. She said that the area has witnessed unprecedented development during the last three years due to the benevolence of the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. She detailed various projects being executed besides highlighting various demands of the area. She urged the Chief Minister to start science classes in Government Degree College Lanj and opening of ITI in the area.
Member of Parliament Kishan Kapoor, District President BJP Chander Bhushan Nag, Deputy Commissioner Kangra Rakesh Kumar Prajapati, Superintendent of Police Vimukat Ranjan and other officers virtually joined the event from their respective places.
