• Construction of Renuka Ji Dam to begin soon: CM
The International Shri Renuka Ji Fair commenced today at Renuka Ji in Sirmour district with Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu receiving the palanquin of Lord Parshuram and led the procession by shouldering it at Dadahu.
Extending his greetings to all on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that fairs and festivals were an integral part of our rich cultural legacy and these occasions allow locals to express distinct art, music, dance and customs, passing them on to future generations. He said that fairs and festivals in the State were major tourist attractions, drawing visitors from around the country and abroad.
Later, interacting with media persons, the Chief Minister said that he was unable to attend the fair last year due to health reasons, but he was pleased to visit for the first time this year. He said that it was a moment of happiness for him and he prayed for the peace and prosperity of Himachal Pradesh. “Such fairs inspire us to follow the path of righteousness,” he added.
In response to a question, he said that the construction work on the Renuka Ji Dam would commence soon. The project was currently pending due to FCA clearance but efforts were being made to remove these obstacles.
Later, the Chief Minister offered prayers at the Lord Parshuram and Mata Renuka Ji temples and prayed for peace and prosperity in the State. He also inaugurated developmental exhibitions at the fair, showcasing displays from various government departments.
The performance of Mahanati involving approximately 300 women was also held on the occasion.
MP Suresh Kashyap, MLAs Ajay Solanki, Sukh Ram Chaudhary and Reena Kashyap, former Vidhansabha Speaker Gangu Ram Musafir, former MLA Kirnesh Jung, Congress Leader Dayal Pyari Deputy Commissioner Sumit Kimta and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
