Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, while presiding over the Conference of elected members of PRIs of block and elected members of Municipal Council Sundernagar at Sundernagar, said that inaugurations and foundation stones of 39 developmental projects worth about Rs. 300 crore have been performed in Sundernagar Assembly Constituency of Mandi district out of which projects of more than Rs. 249 crore have been provided to the people of the area today alone. He said that projects worth about Rs. 50 crore were dedicated to the people of the area yesterday.
Chief Minister said that the Panchayati Raj Institutions are the basic units of local administration and has three levels viz. Gram Panchayat at village level, Panchayat Samiti at block level and Zila Parishad at the district level. He said that during his tenure as the Panchayati Raj Minister he took a few initiatives for effective and smooth functioning of the Panchayati Raj Institutions. He said that steps must be taken to make the Panchayats more vibrant and lively. He urged the elected representatives to work with complete transparency and responsibility to come upto the expectations of the people.
Jai Ram Thakur said that as today there were adequate funds available with the Panchayats, thus the responsibility of the Panchayats has increased manifold. He said that the elected representatives should work with a focused attitude and dedication so that speedy development of their areas could be ensured. He said that the PRIs should also come forward in effective policy making and planning of the areas. He also urged the elected representatives to ensure effective dissemination of policies and programmes of the State Government.
Chief Minister urged the Pradhans to prioritize their developmental demands so that they could ensure maximum development of their areas. He said that the State Government would provide wholehearted support to the elected members of the PRIs. He also urged them for ensuring quality in all the developmental works in their areas.
Jai Ram Thakur, while lauding the excellent work done by the PRIs during the first phase of Covid-19, urged them to ensure greater cooperation to the State Government in tackling the spread of this virus. He said that they should motivate the people to follow covid appropriate behaviour. He also urged the elected representatives of PRIs to also motivate people to come forward for getting themselves vaccinated. He also urged them to take active part in training being organised by the Department.
He announced that the Community Hall of Farmer Training Centre Sundernagar would be renovated to facilitate the people of the area.
Chief Minister also distributed Education/Information Kits to the elected members of the PRIs and ULBs on the occasion.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated Rs. 4.25 crore LWSS to PC habitation in CV Kalahod, Derdu and Thara in Kalahod Gram Panchayat, Rs. 3 crore regional laboratory building of H.P. State Pollution Control Board at Sundernagar and Rs. 4.5 crore building of City Livelihood Centre, Sundernagar.
Jai Ram Thakur also laid foundation stones of developmental projects worth Rs. 39.37 crore including Rs. 14.10 crore Farmer Training Centre building Sundernagar, Rs. 66 lakh residence of Joint Director Technical Education, Sundernagar, Rs. 19.36 crore upgradation of Sewerage Treatment Plant Sundernagar and providing sewerage connectivity to left-out area under MC Sundernagar, Rs. 2.89 crore remodelling of LWSS Chamukha Nalni in Gram Panchayat Bhanwad, Rs. 65 lakh improvement of LWSS Dharanda in GP Khilra, Rs. 1.41 crore CAD LIS Kalahod in GP Kalahod, Rs. 10.5 crore Indoor Stadium/Multipurpose Sports Hall, Sundernagar, Rs. 3.94 crore Service Staff Training Hostel in Forest Training Centre Compound Sundernagar, Rs. 5.34 crore Auditorium, Gymnasium and Badminton Hall in Forest Training Institute and Rangers College, Sundernagar and Rs. 97 lakh Faculty Hostel at Forest Training and Rangers College, Sundernagar.
MLA Sundernagar Rakesh Jamwal, while welcoming the Chief Minister to his home constituency, thanked the Chief Minister for dedicating developmental projects worth about Rs. 300 crores. He said that 13 developmental projects were dedicated at Sundernagar alone today by the Chief Minister. He said that it was under the able leadership of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur that 412 new panchayats and three new Municipal Corporation were created in the State to ensure balanced and planned development of the State. He also thanked the Chief Minister for starting work on setting up 1000 LPM Oxygen Plant at Sundernagar Hospital.
Sundernagar BJP Mandal President Pratap Thakur also welcomed the Chief Minister and other eminent people present on the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner Mandi Arindam Chaudhary, while welcoming the Chief Minister said that that printing material regarding role and responsibilities of PRIs would be provided to the elected representatives of the PRIs and ULBs.
