Directs for immediate repair of School building,
Lays foundation stones of projects amounting to Rs. 33.26 crore
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today paid a surprise visit to Government Senior Secondary School Marwari during his one-day visit to Gagret assembly constituency in Una district. He inspected the classrooms and also interacted and encouraged the students to work hard, besides discussing few issues with the teachers as well. On the spot directions were issued to the PWD department to repair the old school building so that the students can get a better environment for studies and announced a sum of Rs 10 lakh for the school playground.
He said that the state government was trying to improve the standard of education and was opening Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding Schools in every assembly constituency, adding that from the next academic session, English medium will be introduced from 1st class in all the government schools. The School will have a choice to select smart uniforms and clusters will be formed for better utilization of resources. The children also clicked selfies with the Chief Minister.
Earlier, the Chief Minister performed the foundation stone laying ceremony of three developmental projects worth Rs 33.26 crore for Gagret assembly constituency, which included Mini Secretariat at Gagret to cost Rs 19.49 crore, Marwari-Joh bridge to be constructed with an outlay of Rs 11.28 crore. He also laid the foundation of a bridge over Kuneran Khad on Gondpur Banhera-Ghanaari link road to cost Rs 2.49 crore.
