Chief Minister Sukhuvinder Singh Sukhu stated that the two-year tenure of the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh has changed a 40-year-old system. The economy has been brought back on track. Several steps have been taken to eliminate the gap between the common and the privileged. The CM expressed his desire that in the coming years, all people of Himachal should have their rights to the wealth of the state. Currently, 70 percent of the state’s wealth is in the hands of a few individuals. The gap between the poor and the rich is widening. The next goal is to ensure a proper distribution of this wealth so that it reaches the common man; they are working in this direction.
On the second anniversary of the Congress government in Himachal, Chief Minister Sukhu stated that these two years of their tenure have been about systemic change. The current government has taken on the responsibility of bringing the deteriorating economy back on track. Changes in regulations have been made to get it back on track, and it is now running swiftly. The government has made several policy decisions in these two years. However, there has been a lack of publicity. The old pension scheme has been implemented. Special attention was given to the welfare of widows, single women and their children, and the weaker sections of society.
Efforts were made for all those groups that do not have a voice of their own. Employees can go on strike, but such groups are unable to raise their voices. The Chief Minister stated that he believes that only those who think about this group are good rulers. The government has taken steps to improve the quality of education in the last two years. The health sector has lagged behind, and now it needs to be changed. In the Public Works Department, tenders used to take 60 days, but now they are being completed in 20 days. Transparency has been brought into the functioning of the departments.
We provided a package of 4,500 crores on our own. We changed the relief manual and provided 7 lakhs instead of 1.50 lakhs for house construction. Even in the case of partial house damage, we provided assistance of one lakh. The third political challenge arose. Following the example of Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra, the BJP launched Operation Lotus, but with the blessings and support of the deities, God, and the people of Himachal Pradesh, we overcame this challenge as well.
