Congress’s knowledge on democracy is hollow, its unruly conduct in Parliament is shameful.
Shimla, BJP MP and Vice President Dr. Rajiv Bhardwaj sharply rebutted Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu’s statement in Indora, Kangra, saying that the claim of ending MNREGA is completely false, misleading, and a conspiracy to spread political confusion. He said that the Congress leadership is attempting to scare the rural poor by making baseless statements.
Dr. Bhardwaj clarified that the central government has not abolished MNREGA, but has structurally upgraded it as the “Vikas Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihoods Mission (Rural)” to make it more robust, transparent, and results-oriented. He said that this new Act increases the employment guarantee from 100 days to 125 days, which will further strengthen the income security of rural families.
He asked why the Congress was afraid to explain that the new law would create durable assets in areas such as water security, core rural infrastructure, livelihood infrastructure and climate resilience, ensuring both sustainable development and employment in villages.

Congress’s behaviour in Parliament is a blot on democracy
Dr. Rajiv Bhardwaj said that before invoking democracy, Chief Minister Sukhu should first examine the conduct of his own party’s MPs. He pointed out that 98 MPs participated in a serious and detailed discussion on the bill in Parliament, which lasted until 1:30 a.m. A Union minister had agreed to answer every opposition question, but the Congress and Indi alliance created a ruckus, tearing papers, climbing on tables, and desecrating the Chair before the answers could be heard.
He questioned whether this behavior was in keeping with the ideals of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Is the attempt to transform Parliament into a mobocracy and a thugocracy considered defending democracy? Dr. Bhardwaj said that preventing the other side from speaking after one has already made one’s point is not only unethical but also a gross violation of parliamentary traditions.

Congress’s double standards exposed
Dr. Rajiv Bhardwaj said that on one hand, the Congress party creates chaos in Parliament and on the other, it comes out and invokes democracy. This is the Congress party’s double standards. He asked why the Congress, which plays politics in the name of MNREGA, does not reveal how transparent the Congress party was during its tenure and how many schemes fell prey to corruption.
He said that the central government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has a clear resolve to ensure that rural India receives employment, dignity, and self-reliance. The new law is a historic step in that direction.

BJP stands with truth against lies
Dr. Rajiv Bhardwaj stated that the BJP will provide factual answers to every lie spread by the Congress party and will not allow the rural population to be misled. He said that the people of the country know that the path to a developed India lies not through confusion and lies, but through reform, transparency, and accountability.
