Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has alleged that infighting within the BJP, which is divided into 5 factions, is at its peak. He said that the situation is such that when Jai Ram speaks in the assembly, his other members raise their hands. The Chief Minister was talking informally to journalists here. He said that this time BJP MPs and MLAs went to the central government to plead for help under the leadership of Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, but such unity was not seen in the BJP during the disaster of the year 2023. He said that this time when the disaster came to Seraj, the opposition reached there to plead for help. On the contrary, during the last disaster, the BJP had walked out of the House when the resolution was passed.
Chief Minister Sukhu said that the duration of the monsoon session has been kept longer this time. In such a situation, the opposition will get full opportunity to present its side. He expressed hope that instead of walking out, the opposition will have a meaningful discussion on other topics including natural disaster in the House. He said that the opposition will be given more opportunities to speak in the House, provided it shows seriousness in raising the issues. He said that no help has been received from the central government to deal with the disaster yet. Help is expected from the Center to deal with natural disaster in the near future. He said that the present government has taken steps forward in the direction of making Himachal Pradesh self-reliant in its two and a half year tenure.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that incidents of cloudburst have been reported in Kullu, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti, which is considered a cold desert. He said that this is happening due to weather change caused by global warming, for which the central government has been requested to do a scientific study. The central government will form a team for this and bring out the reality.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu will preside over the state-level Independence Day celebrations in Sarkaghat on Friday. For this, the Chief Minister left for Sarkaghat by road on Thursday itself. On the occasion of Independence Day, the employees and pensioners of the state are expecting the government to give them the pending financial payments along with DA. Apart from this, the common man also has expectations from the government on Independence Day. At the district level, the minister will preside over the Independence Day celebrations.
