Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the offer of graded stake to Himachal in power projects was injustice to the people of the State. He expressed concern over the MoUs signed between the government and Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVNL) for hydropower projects including 210 MW Luhri-I, 172 MW Luhri-II, 382 MW Sunni and 66 MW Dhaulasiddh projects.
During his visit to Kaza, Sukhu said that various issues related to power projects of the state were discussed after meeting Union Energy Secretary Alok Kumar. Urged the Central Government to revisit these agreements and fix a fixed time limit of 75 years for transfer of ownership of these power projects to the state, as in the MoUs signed for projects after 2019, this time limit is 70 years.
Discussing the increase in participation in various power projects, the Chief Minister urged that 40 per cent share should be given to the State in hydro power projects of companies like BBMB, SJVNL and NJPC which have already recovered their cost. The lease period for the 110 MW Shanan Hydro Electric Project with Punjab will expire in the year 2024. He said that after the expiry of the lease period, Himachal Pradesh should get its fair share. During this MLA Ravi Thakur and SJVNL CMD Nand Lal Sharma were also present.
