Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has said that the government will provide compassionate jobs as per the minimum educational qualification. While answering the question of MLA KL Thakur during the Question Hour in the Assembly House on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said that the previous government did not do anything on this matter. The state government has formed a committee to consider this matter. Discussions have taken place with the committee twice. An action plan will be brought forward soon. The Chief Minister said that the previous government rejected 1,766 applications for jobs on compassionate grounds in government departments and 734 in corporations and boards. Only 25 percent were given jobs. The Chief Minister said that in the last three years, 4,099 applications were received in government departments and 2,971 in corporation boards for compassionate jobs.
This matter will have to be thought seriously. On the other hand, reacting to the Chief Minister’s answer, former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur said that the previous government had given maximum number of jobs on compassionate grounds. BJP government changed the rules for providing jobs. Earlier, if an employee died after the age of 50, his family members did not get a job. Our government made a provision that if death occurs even a day before retirement, a compassionate job will be given. Jairam said that the BJP government also gave relaxation in the age condition. MLA KL Thakur had asked by when the jobs would be given on compassionate grounds.
