Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur along-with his wife and Chairperson of the State Red Cross Hospital Welfare Branch Dr. Sadhna Thakur visited Balika Ashram, Tutikandi, Shimla today and distributed sweets among children of the Ashram on the occasion of Diwali.
Wishing a happy Diwali to the children, the Chief Minister said that since time immemorial Diwali was celebrated throughout the world to mark the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. He said that celebrating the auspicious occasion with the children of this Ashram was indeed delighting. He also appreciated the talent of the students of this Ashram and asked the officers to provide all possible help to the students to excel in life and contribute in development of the nation.
The Chief Minister announced Rs 51000 from his discretionary fund to the students participating in cultural programme.
The children of the Ashram presented the candies prepared by them to the Chief Minister. Jai Ram Thakur appreciated the efforts of the children in making the candies.
General Secretary Child Welfare Council Payal Vaidya, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Aditya Negi, Superintendent of Police Dr. Monika were also present on the occasion among others.
