The cold wave continues to intensify in Himachal Pradesh. All around the state, nighttime temperatures are declining, and in many places, mercury levels are dipping below average. Temperatures have even fallen below freezing in the indigenous areas.
The state’s average minimum temperature has dropped by 0.5 degrees Celsius over the past day and is still 0.8 degrees Celsius below average, according to the Meteorological Department.
There is a severe cold period in the Lahaul-Spiti area. On Sunday, the district headquarters in Keylong reported a minimum temperature of -2.5 degrees Celsius. Tabo recorded -2.3 degrees Celsius, while Kukumseri recorded -2.4 degrees.
The cold is also affecting other hill stations in the state. The lowest recorded nighttime temperatures were 3.1 degrees Celsius in Manali, 4.6 degrees in Narkanda, 4.8 degrees in Siyobag, 4.4 degrees in Reckong Peo, 7.3 degrees in Kufri, 8.8 degrees in Shimla, 9.1 degrees in Sarahan, and 0.8 degrees in Kalpa. The cold is also getting worse in the plains. Eight degrees were reported in Sundernagar, 10.2 in Una, 11.8 in Nahan, 7 degrees each in Solan and Palampur, 7.6 in Kangra, 9.6 in Mandi, 7.9 in Hamirpur, 11.7 in Bilaspur, and 9.9 in Barthin.
On Sunday, the state’s weather stayed clear. The weather was comfortable during the day, while it was sunny, but at night and in the morning, it was really cold. As night fell, temperatures in Shimla, the capital, and other high-altitude regions quickly plunged.
The Meteorological Department has predicted clear weather in Himachal Pradesh until November 15th. According to the department, minimum temperatures are likely to fall further in the coming days.
