An alert has been issued that the cold wave will continue for the next six days in many low-lying hilly and plain areas of Himachal Pradesh. The metrological department Shimla has issued an orange-yellow alert of severe cold wave in many areas of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra and Mandi districts till 25 December. During the last 24 hours, cold waves were recorded in Una, Chamba and Sundernagar. The minimum temperature has been recorded in minus at three places in the state.
On the other hand, due to the activity of western disturbance in some high mountain parts of the state, rain and snowfall are forecast in some parts of Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur districts on 23 and 24 December. However, the weather is likely to remain clear on December 25. In such a situation, the hope of White Christmas may remain unfulfilled. A fresh western disturbance is likely to become active in the state on December 27. According to the department, there will be no major change in temperature during the next 24 hours. After that, the temperature will drop gradually by 2-3 °C in two days.
Minimum temperature in Shimla is 5.5, Sundernagar 1.0, Bhuntar 0.0, Kalpa 0.4, Dharamshala 5.5, Una 1.0, Nahan 6.4, Palampur 2.5, Manali 1.9, Kangra 4.0, Mandi 2.1, Bilaspur 3.3, Hamirpur 2.1, Chamba 1.5, Jubbarhatti 5.8, Kufri 6.4, Kukumseri -4.9, Bharmair 3.7, Reckongpeo 2.7, Seubagh 0.2, Dhailaquan 5.0, Barathi 1.4, Samdo 0.1, Paonta Sahib 6.0, Sarahan 4.0, Dehra Gopipur 6.0, Tabo -8.3 and Bajaira recorded -0.2 °C.
