While there is bright sunshine during the day in the central areas of the state, the plains are surrounded by cold waves. A severe cold wave is going on in Hamirpur and Una, while cold wave has also been seen in Bilaspur. Light fog has also been seen in Bilaspur. Light snowfall was also recorded on the high peaks of Lahaul including Rohtang Pass in the state on Monday. According to the Meteorological Department, in the next 2 days, there will be an orange alert of severe cold waves at different places in the lower hilly/plain areas, while a yellow alert of cold waves has been issued on 19th and 20th December.
The weather will remain completely clear and dry in the state till December 22, and there are chances of the temperature gradually falling by 2 to 3 degrees in many parts of the state in the next 2-3 days. On Monday, there was sunshine in many parts of the state, including the capital Shimla and the maximum temperature was recorded at 24.6 degrees in Dharamshala, while the capital Shimla was 21 degrees and Una was 21.8 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature has been minus 10.6 degrees in Tabo, minus 7.1 in Kukumseri, minus 3.8 in Samdho, minus 0.7 in Una and minus 0.2 degrees in Barthin.
The weather in the state remained dry during the last 24 hours. Minimum temperatures remained close to normal at some places and 2 to 3 degrees above normal at some places in the high hills, and 2 to 4 degrees below normal at some places in the plains and low-lying areas.
