Youth is the power of the nation and it is only from the youth that nation and society building gets momentum and they are the security shield of the nation if they are taught the lesson of discipline and patriotism with proper training.
On Friday, 3rd NCC Raising Day celebrated at the college level under the leadership of NCC in-charge Dr. Shweta Thakur on behalf of St. Beds College Shimla and Seven HP (I) NCC (National Cadet Corps) Shimla. NCC cadets of St. Bede’s College Shimla, cadets of APG Shimla University and NCC cadets of St Edward’s School Shimla celebrated this third NCC Raising Day with great fervour. On this occasion, Commanding Officer of Seven HP (I) NCC Shimla Col. D.R. Gargey participated in the program as a special chief guest. NCC cadets of St. Bede’s College Shimla presented the guard of honor to the chief guest Col. D.R. Gargey. College Principal Sister Prof. Dr. Mauli Abraham and Dr. Sapna honoured the chief guest Commanding Officer Col. D.R. Gargey for gracing the program and guiding and boosting the morale of all girl students including NCC cadets. Other dignitaries present in the program were also honored by presenting mementos. The program commenced with NCC drill. After this, NCC in-charge and officer Dr. Shweta Thakur read the annual report of NCC unit of St. Beds College in the college auditorium. Dr.Shweta Thakur added that cadets participated in State and national level and Republic Day Parade, Army Attachment, PM Rally, NCC DG Awards, in all areas. Dr. Thakur told all the guests and dignitaries present in the auditorium and commanding officer Colonel D.R. Gargey about the achievements done by the cadets of St. Bede’s College. She added more that at the same time of cadets’ achievements, the cadets have been making people aware on environmental protection and other social and health issues from time to time. Dr Shweta said that Senior Under Officer Manika Sethi of St. Bede’s college has been the best cadet from Himachal Pradesh this year who participated in the Republic Day Parade Delhi and is the only NCC cadet from Himachal to receive the NCC DG Commendation Award of this year. The other two cadets have also made achievements in NCC activities, Dr. Shewta added.
The cadets presented colorful cultural programs on this occasion. The cadets enthralled all the guests and students present in the college auditorium with patriotism notes by acting in the play ‘Main Apni Jhansi Kisi Ko Nahi Doongi’ on Rani of Jhansi Lakshmi Bai. Chief Guest Col. D.R. Gargey praised this act of the cadets and said that all Indians should be proud of being citizens of India and should have the same spirit, courage, patriotism and courage as Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi to protect and progress their country.Commanding Officer Col. Gargey while addressing the cadets and students said that NCC is the foundation of good discipline. The cadet who implements its objectives and rules in life makes the future of the country. He called upon the cadets to come forward in nation building. Commanding Officer Colonel D.R. Gargey lauded the achievements made by the NCC cadets at the State level and national level. Chief Guest Col. D.R. Gargey felicitated the cadets by presenting certificates and mementos for their achievements for the NCC session 2022-23. “The progress of nation and society depends on the youth, youth should try their best for the betterment of the nation and society by taking inspiration from great personalities, freedom fighters and intellectuals so that the coming generations get inspired by you”, said Commanding Officer Col. D.R. Gargey while addressing the cadets and students.
Col. Gargey exhorted the students and cadets to come forward for the growth of the nation, society and mankind.
St. Bede’s College Principal Sister Prof. Dr. Mauli Abraham and Dr. Sapna congratulated the cadets for their good job and contribution. Professors of St. Bede’ s College, non-teaching staff members, collage administration and management team, PI Staff of Seven HP NCC Shimla, Nodal Officer Pyar Singh Thakur, and associate NCC Officer Satish Chander were present on the occasion.
