Shoolini University and Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) are holding a Direct Selling Conclave on July 12 and 13 in the university campus.
It would be organised by the Center of Excellence for Direct Selling in Academics (CEDSA), central objective of which is to add an academic vertical to the Direct Selling industry.
In pursuance of the vision and mission of the Center, the conclave is being held to bring the industry stakeholders come together to contribute towards the long term sustainability and tackle potential risks for the industry.
The CEDSA direct selling conclave aims to be the cornerstone annual event which the entire industry will look forward for best practices, future trends and to be the benchmark conclave, according to Associate Professor-cum-Director eLearning and Convenor of the conclave Prof Kamal Kant Vashisht.
The conclave is designed to involve all key stakeholders of the industry, namely, the distributor, company, regulator, educationists, industry association and critics. This shall be achieved primarily through formal education, quality research, industry collaboration and awareness campaigns. Based out of the University’s campus in Solan, CEDSA is first of its kind centre in the entire South Asia, and third overall in the world.
Key areas of focus during the conclave would be panel discussion involving key leaders to discuss the existing state of affairs given the direct selling regulation recently launched and the way direct selling has evolved till now.
Prof Vashisht said there are various challenges like dumping, mis-selling, over-pricing etc which is plaguing the industry. Specialist across the spectrum will discuss each aspect of the key issues and share their experiences with proposed solutions.
The recommendations will be documented and presented to the industry, regulators and associations for follow-up action.
The conclave will deliver the way forward and vision for the coming years for the entire industry and create awareness across demographies.
