Shimla:
Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur alleged that the Indian National Congress party’s opposition to the AI Summit in Delhi is an attack on India’s global reputation.
He said that Congress is no longer acting as a responsible political party and accused it of attempting to tarnish the country’s image on international platforms. Thakur claimed that the party’s actions reflect fear of India’s progress and rising global stature.
He stated that India’s technological capability, innovation, and leadership are gaining global recognition, and under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the country is reaching new heights internationally. However, he alleged that Congress has once again demonstrated narrow political interests by attempting to undermine the nation’s honour.
Thakur further said that Congress’s protest is not directed against any government but against India itself. He accused the party of engaging in negative politics by spreading confusion and belittling India’s achievements.
He also alleged that under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, the party is attempting to portray India as weak on foreign platforms, mislead investors, and damage the country’s global credibility.
He added that whenever India moves forward, Congress resorts to opposition and obstruction, which he described as detrimental to national interest. Thakur termed such an approach unfortunate and an insult to the nation at a time when India is advancing rapidly on the global stage.
