MP Anurag Singh Thakur accused the present Congress government of Himachal Pradesh of pushing the state toward an economic crisis and limiting itself to mere formalities instead of helping the victims in times of disaster. He said that in the last 11 years, the Modi government at the Centre has always stood by the interests of Himachal and whenever and wherever the need arose, the Central government has helped Devbhoomi.
The state government has been taking anti-people decisions since the first day of its formation. This government has pushed the state towards economic crisis and the result of their economic mismanagement is that today the debt of Himachal Pradesh has crossed Rs 1 lakh crore. He said that due to government failure, the facility of free medicine to the beneficiaries of Himcare and Ayushman Yojana was stopped due to non-payment of Rs 70 crore in IGMC Shimla.
Anurag Thakur said that the Modi government has given 3 times more financial help in SDRF and more than 5 times more financial help in NDRF as compared to the Congress-led UPA government to compensate for the loss caused by natural disaster to the state. This difference shows the thinking of both the governments and their priority for Himachal.
In the past, during the time of disaster, the central government had given about 1300 crore rupees. During the last disaster, more than 12 thousand houses were given; 93 thousand new houses were given by the Modi government, till date so many houses have never been given. Apart from this, 2006 crore rupees have been sanctioned by the central government for Himachal; the state government has to complete its formalities. The state government could not spend the earlier money either.
