If the name were to be changed, it would have been better for lakhs of people of the changing state first
*Shimla:* Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur said that the Sukhu government had stopped the Jan Manch program due to political malice. Which she is starting again now. If the work had to be started by changing the name, then as soon as they came to power they would have changed the name and allowed Jan Manch to run. In a state with difficult geographical conditions like Himachal, Jan Manch was a unique program in itself. Under which the government along with the entire administrative staff used to reach the doorsteps of the people and solve their problems on the spot. Small and big matters for which a common man had to travel for many hours and hundreds of kilometres, could be done comfortably at home without any expense. It is the job of the government to keep in mind the interests of the common man and make their facilities easily available to them. But in the present government there is no such mechanism through which people can effectively convey their views to the government. From ministers to MLAs, the people of Himachal are today in such a situation where they are not heard. The Chief Minister should apologize to the people of Himachal for closing the Jan Manch program due to political rivalry.
Programs like Jan Manch started by the previous BJP government made it much easier for the government to reach out to the general public. Grievances of thousands of people were resolved in one day. But as soon as it came to power, the Sukhu government made Jan Manch a victim of its political malice. He was given such names which are not even possible to say in a civilized society. Today, after 2 years, she is doing the same thing which she had to do as soon as she came to power. Due to the political malice of the government, lakhs of people of the state did not get the opportunity to express their views. People did not get solution to their complaints. Due to lack of facilities like Jan Manch, people could not express their problems to anyone. If the government had not closed down Jan Manch due to political malice, it would have been better for lakhs of people of the state.
Jairam Thakur said that the kind of political malice with which the Sukhu government of Congress is working is nothing but petty politics. 50,000 complaints from 256 programs of Jan Manch launched by the former government were resolved on the spot. Due to this, thousands of rupees were saved for each complainant. Which they had to spend on paperwork while travelling. Is it the job of any welfare state to take care of the interests of the people of the state and ensure that people do not face any kind of inconvenience in getting the facilities? But for the present government, political interest is paramount and not public interest. For this reason, the government stopped an ambitious program like Jan Manch, making it a victim of its petty politics and said many wrong and derogatory things about it
