Congress announces Anurag Sharma as Rajya Sabha candidate from Himachal Pradesh

Shimla: The Indian National Congress has nominated Anurag Sharma as its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha Elections 2026 from Himachal Pradesh.
According to an official press release issued by the All India Congress Committee, the candidature was approved by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Sharma currently serves as the District Congress Committee (DCC) President of Kangra.
The announcement was made as part of the party’s list of candidates for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections from several states.
The press note was issued by AICC General Secretary K. C. Venugopal on March 5, 2026, naming candidates from Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.
With the nomination, the party leadership has expressed confidence in Sharma’s organisational experience and his role in strengthening the Congress in the state.
