“A straw in the thief’s beard” – Why is Congress getting nervous as soon as the question is raised?
Shimla,
BJP state spokesperson Sandipani Bhardwaj, while cornering the Congress government and its leaders on the questions raised regarding the property of Rajya Sabha member Anurag Sharma, said that instead of facing the truth in this entire matter, Congress is playing the politics of spreading confusion and diverting attention from the issue.
Sandipani Bhardwaj said that when serious questions arise about a public representative’s affidavit and property details, it is the responsibility of democracy to provide transparent and factual answers. However, the attitude of Congress leaders is akin to “finding a straw in a thief’s beard.” He said that Congress leaders are constantly trying to deflect questions by blaming the BJP, while the public deserves to know the truth.
He said that according to media reports, numerous discrepancies have emerged regarding the assets listed in the affidavit, and it is being reported that the total assets are over ₹22 crore. In such a situation, the Congress party’s repeated assertion that the candidate is a “common worker” is an insult to public understanding.
Sandipani Bhardwaj said that the statements of Congress party leaders are contradictory. On one hand, they are calling the questions false propaganda, while on the other, they are avoiding giving clear and satisfactory answers to the entire matter. He said that if everything is clear and true, then Congress should come forward openly and present the facts so that the doubts in the public’s mind can be dispelled.
The BJP spokesperson said that many questions have already been raised regarding transparency and accountability during the Congress government’s tenure. Now, the emerging facts regarding this Rajya Sabha election have sparked serious debate in state politics.
He said that the BJP firmly believes that transparency should be paramount in a democracy. Therefore, an impartial investigation and clarity of all facts in this matter is essential so that the truth can be revealed to the public.
Sandipani Bhardwaj said that Congress must understand that raising questions strengthens democracy, but running away from questions only fuels suspicion. The BJP will continue to raise its voice on issues of transparency and the interests of the state’s people.
