Shimla, April 7: On the last day of the budget session in the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, discussion was held on legalizing the cultivation of cannabis under Rule 63. Purna Chand, BJP MLA from Drang, brought a proposal for its discussion in the House. Members of the Legislative Assembly raised a demand to legalize cannabis, citing its medicinal properties. After which the government has decided to constitute a five-member committee for this.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu (CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu) said that legalizing the cultivation of cannabis leaves and seeds can be considered. He told that cannabis has many medicinal benefits. For which the committee of five members of both the parties will give its report in a month. After that it will be considered.
The Chief Minister informed that cultivation of cannabis is legal in Uttarakhand. Even in the NDPS Act, the states have been given the right to legalize the cultivation of cannabis. Cultivation of cannabis can help in strengthening the economic condition of the state. But this should not lead to the promotion of intoxication. A committee of five members was formed regarding this.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur also claimed victory in Shimla Municipal Corporation elections.
At present, the government announced in the House to constitute a five-member committee under the chairmanship of cabinet minister Jagat Negi. Sunder Thakur, Hans Raj, Janak Raj and Purna Chand will be the members of the committee, which will submit its report in a month.
