Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap said that Dairy Cooperative Society will be formed at Panchayat level in Shimla district. 57 Gram Panchayats have been selected in the first phase. Out of these, formation of Dairy Cooperative Society has been completed in 8 Gram Panchayats.
The Deputy Commissioner was presiding over the meeting of the District Level Dairy Development Committee held here today. He said that the aim of the state government is to form a dairy cooperative society at the panchayat level in order to strengthen the rural economy by providing assistance to livestock farmers. It is mandatory to have a minimum of 11 members in every society. Apart from this, it is necessary to have all the rules and feasibility certificates made by the Milk Federation.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Block Development Officers of the selected 57 Panchayats to complete the process of registration of Dairy Cooperative Society before 10 September. The concerned departments have been instructed to take further action in the 08 Panchayats of the district where the registration process has been completed. Only one cooperative society will be formed in every Panchayat.
Deputy Director Animal Husbandry Department Dr Neeraj Mohan and other dignitaries were also present in the meeting.

The Animal Husbandry Department has conducted an internal survey in a total of 412 Panchayats of the district, on the basis of which 57 Gram Panchayats have been selected in which more than 200 liters of milk is being produced daily. These include the gram panchayats of Bamta, Kedi, Chandlog, Daiyadochi, Pujarli, Bohar, Nyol Tikri, Phancha, Jhiknipul, Khundnewal, Diyot, Malendi, Gopalpur, Shahdhar, Parsa, Adal, Samolipul, Barasali, Lower Koti, Seema Rantari, Jhagoti, Bapfar, Andhra, Diswani, Dhakgaon, Masali, Nakradi, Gharg, Shilli, Khashdhar, Kharshali, Khabal, Basori, Tango Janglik, Pujarli-4, Karasa, Kutadi, Harchali, Gauna, Dalgaon, Jais, Bharada, Devrighat, Chamiyana, Dummi, Bhoont, Mehli, Badhai, Pujarli, Razhana, Malyana, Koti, Satlai, Darbhog, Shilli Baghi and Majhthai.

Dairy cooperative societies have been formed in 08 panchayats of the district. These include The Amrit Pan Milk Cooperative Limited Kamoli, The Jaga Mata Bashla Milk Cooperative Limited Aadhal, The Gokul Milk Cooperative Limited Samoli, The Krishna Women Milk Cooperative Limited Kanyora, The Jiya-Pan Milk Cooperative Limited Lower Koti under Rohru development block and The Andhra Milk Cooperative Limited Aadhal and The Dakgaon Milk Cooperative Limited in Chirgaon development block and The Laharu Veer Milk Producer Cooperative Society Limited Ganvi under Rampur development block.
District level dairy development committee will work under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner
For the implementation of this scheme, a committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner will work. The Deputy Commissioner will prepare a draft of the district level plan which includes selection of panchayats, ensuring the responsibility of Panchayati Raj Department and other departments, formation of district level dairy development committee. Along with this, provision of budget will have to be made and monthly progress report will have to be prepared. The role of Milk Fed, DRDA, Animal Husbandry Department, Gram Panchayat and farmers has also been decided.
