Shimla: The Shimla district administration is committed to ensuring quick delivery of government services to every citizen through digital empowerment, in line with the state government’s vision. In this direction, the e-Parivar and Him Parivar projects are proving to be major milestones. At present, an extensive digital survey is underway in both rural and urban areas of the state with the objective of creating an accurate State Social Register.
So far, records of nearly 60 percent of families in Shimla district have been updated online, while the remaining 40 percent are in the process of being completed.
Deputy Commissioner Shimla, Anupam Kashyap, held a video conferencing meeting today with all Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) and Block Development Officers (BDOs of the district to review the progress of the survey. He directed that all pending e-Parivar records in the panchayats must be updated before January 19. He warned that departmental action would be taken against officials found delaying the work. The state government has fixed January 31, 2026, as the final deadline for completion of the survey.
The Deputy Commissioner said that several panchayats in the district have already achieved 100 percent record updation. He added that Block Development Officers would be held fully accountable for any delay in updating records.
Anupam Kashyap further informed that under this ambitious project, each family is being allotted a unique 12-digit ID. This ID will be activated after verification of family data through Aadhaar-based e-KYC.
Once the digital database is fully prepared, citizens will no longer need to repeatedly visit government offices or submit documents to avail benefits such as ration cards, old-age pension, PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, and the Chief Minister’s Housing Scheme. Digitization will enhance transparency, help identify ineligible beneficiaries, and ensure that benefits reach the rightful recipients.
He also said that the government has updated the Him Parivar and e-Parivar portals for public convenience. Through these portals, citizens can check the status of their family ID and download an online copy of the family register. In urban areas, data verification is being carried out based on ration card numbers.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Divyanshu Singal, Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Pankaj Sharma, Urban SDM Ocean Sharma, and other officers were present during the meeting.
