The Department of Prisons and Correctional Services, H.P. in collaboration with The Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla is organizing a Three (3) Days Course on Training of Trainers (TOT) on New Criminal Laws from 4th March to 6th March, 2024 at the university.
This programme is for Prison Officers\Jail Superintendents of the State of Himachal Pradesh. The programme shall have discussions and training on the new criminal laws that will come into effect from 1st July, 2024. These include the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023 (B.N.S.), Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (B.N.S.S.) and the Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (B.S.A.).
The Chief guest for the inaugural session was Shri S.R. Ojha, I.P.S., D.G. Prisons and Correctional Service, Himachal Pradesh. He stated that the new Acts will revolutionize the criminal justice administration. The training of the trainers (TOT) programme gives us this opportunity to familiarize our trainers with the laws to enable them to train lower cadres of law enforcement agencies.
The Hon’ble Officiating Vice Chancellor and Patron, Prof (Dr.) Chanchal Kumar Singh stated that the new Criminal laws will replace the old colonial laws. The new laws are made to protect the rights of the individuals and this training programme shall aid in the training of enforcement officers.
The programme is organized by the Coordinator, Dr. Santosh K. Sharma, and Co- Coordinators Dr. Nutan Kanwar and Ms. Kalyani Acharya.
