It is mandatory to put QR codes of minimum price on PET bottles, multi-layered plastic and food items packed in tetra packs on travel routes- Mukesh Repaswal
Deputy Commissioner Chamba Mukesh Repaswal has issued an important order to make the Manimahesh Yatra-2025 clean and plastic waste free. Under which, the Yatra route from Bharmour to Dal Lake has been declared a plastic controlled area from 01 August to 31 August 2025. The purpose of the issued orders is to make the holy Manimahesh Yatra route eco-friendly and garbage free.
Giving information through the orders issued, Deputy Commissioner Chamba said that the District Administration Chamba has entered into a tripartite agreement with Rapidview Technologies Private Limited and Healing Himalayas Foundation on 18th July 2025. Under this agreement, as per the provisions of the Himachal Pradesh Non-Biodegradable Garbage (Control) Act, 1995, all commercial institutions, small institutions, and unorganized units on the route from Bharmour to Dal Lake will be required to put QR codes of minimum price (deposit) on food items packed in PET bottles, multi-layered plastic (MLP), and tetra packs.
He also informed that QR codes will be provided to wholesalers, distributors, shops, hotels, homestays, and restaurant owners by the Racial and Healing Himalayas Foundation. If food items packed in PET bottles, MLP, or tetra packs without QR codes are found selling on this route, strict action will be taken against the concerned institutions as per the rules.
Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal said that for the convenience of the passengers, deposit refund counters will be set up by the Recycle and Healing Himalayas Foundation from Bharmour to Dal Lake. Passengers will be able to get their deposit amount back by depositing bottles or wrappers with QR code at these counters.
