Hamirpur, August 12. Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Singh, while presiding over the meeting of the District Level Monitoring and Review Committee of the Women and Child Development Department at Hamir Bhawan here on Tuesday, reviewed various schemes of the department and issued guidelines to the officers.
He said that this department implements schemes related to about 68 percent of our population at the grassroots level. Our state, country and society progress in various parameters of development only through better implementation of these schemes related to women and children. Along with the Women and Child Development Department, the Health and Education Department also play a very important role in these schemes. Therefore, these three departments should work in mutual coordination.
The Deputy Commissioner said that through a total of 1351 Anganwadi centers in the district, children up to 6 years, pregnant and lactating women are being benefited under the special nutrition program. Out of these, 96 Anganwadi centers are being operated in the department’s own buildings. Whereas, 179 Anganwadi centers are being run in school buildings, 418 community buildings, 9 Panchayat buildings and 649 centers in other buildings. If there is any problem related to electricity, water and toilet in all these buildings, then it should be resolved on priority basis. The centers running in school buildings can be developed as model centers with the help of the education department.
The Deputy Commissioner said that all 12381 children up to 3 years, 2374 pregnant women and 1760 lactating women in the district are being provided nutrition. Apart from these, 2727 children between 3 to 6 years are also being covered under the nutrition program. This is also being monitored through nutrition trackers. Special focus should be given to the 133 children of the district suffering from severe malnutrition and 684 children suffering from partial malnutrition.
The Deputy Commissioner said that a one stop centre has been established in the district to provide immediate help, relief and shelter to women victims of atrocities and a women helpline has been made available on toll free number 181. A budget of Rs 15 lakh has been given this year for various activities under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme. Due to better implementation of this scheme, the child sex ratio of the district has increased to 951. This year, Rs 18.60 lakh was given to 60 beneficiaries of the Chief Minister Shagun Scheme and Rs 5.10 lakh to 10 beneficiaries of the Chief Minister Kanyadaan Scheme. A provision of Rs 1.72 crore has been made for eligible women under the Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojana, while Rs 6 lakh has been distributed to 3 beneficiaries of the Widow Remarriage Scheme. Rs 4000 is being given every month for the upbringing of 345 destitute children. Whereas, youth between 18 and 27 years are being given grants for higher education, house construction and marriage under the Chief Minister Sukh Aashray Yojana. All facilities are being provided to the children living in Bal Ashram Sujanpur. One of these children has been admitted to Hotel Management Institute Hamirpur and another child has been admitted to ITI.
In the meeting, Executive District Program Officer Kuldeep Singh Chauhan presented a detailed account of various schemes. On this occasion, District Council President Babli Devi, officers of various departments, District Child Welfare Committee President Manish Rana and other members were also present.
