Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla participated in the Youth Parliament programme organised by the Faculty of Law, Delhi University on the occasion of Centennial of Faculty of Law and 75 years of working of Indian Constitution at New Delhi today.
In his address, the Governor underlined the need to develop positive thinking and constructive outlook for strengthening the Nation. He said that youth hold the reins of the future of our country therefore they should develop their minds and be enlightened citizens of the country.
The Governor stressed upon the need to understand the principle of unity in diversity which is the unique feature of our country. He said that students should understand the importance of this unity and build the nation and uphold the integrity of the country.
He advised the young Law students to inculcate the habit of reading books and added that reading should not be mere exercise but they should introspect about the content and develop understanding of deeper concepts.
Youth should be aware of issues affecting the country and they must actively participate in nation building and also voice their opinions fearlessly, he added.
The Governor also spoke about the importance of parliament and its glorious traditions, distinguished personalities and legal luminaries of the country who are a source of inspiration for us.
Vice Chancellor, Delhi University Prof. Yogesh Singh also spoke.
Dean of the Faculty Prof. Anju Vali Tikoo welcomed the Governor. Convener of the Youth Parliament, Dr. Vikesh Ram Tripathi proposed a vote of thanks.
Students, teachers of the Faculty of Law were present on the occasion.
