Devendra Kumar Sharma, who is the Chairman, Himachal Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission, has been appointed as a Member of the reconstituted National Security Advisory Board (NSAB) by the National Security Council Secretariat, Government of India.
The National Security Advisory Board (NSAB) consists of a group of eminent national security experts outside of the government. The Members are usually senior retired officials, civilian as well as military, academics and distinguished members of civil society drawn from and having expertise in Internal and External Security, Foreign Affairs, Defence, Science & Technology and Economic Affairs. The NSAB advises Sh Ajit Doval, the National Security Advisor and the National Security Council (NSC) on policy issues referred to it.

Devendra Kumar Sharma has joined as Chairman, Himachal Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission on 26th September, 2020. He has more than 39 years of experience in energy and water resources sectors in India and abroad. He worked as Chairman, Bhakra Beas Management Board, Ministry of Power, Government of India, from April, 2017 to July, 2020 where was responsible for managing assets of National Importance, viz, dams and six power houses of having aggregate capacity of 2919 MW and 3705 km long 400 KV and below transmission system. Prior to this, he was Managing Director of Himachal Power Corporation Ltd. (a Govt. of Himachal Pradesh Undertaking) from September, 2012 to April, 2017. Earlier he worked in Tala Hydroelectric Project Authority in Bhutan for 1020 MW hydroelectric project. He has also worked in SJVNL and in HPSEBL in various capacities.
Some of the former members from the previous National Security Advisory Board have also been retained in the reconstituted Board. Apart from Mr Devendra Kumar Sharma, other members in the reconstituted NSAB include Anshuman Tripathi from IIM Bangalore, Sh Alok Joshi IPS (Retd) former Chairman of NTRO, Sh Arun K Singh IFS (Retd) former ambassador to France and the United States, Dr Bimal Patel who heads Rashtriya Raksha University, Sh Kulbir Krishan IPS (Retd), Dr K Radhakarishnan former Chairman ISRO, Lt General (Retd) Sh S L Narasimhan head of Centre for Contemporary China Studies, Sh Sridhar Vembu founder of Software development firm Zoho Corporation, Lt Gen (Retd) Sh Subrata Saha former Deputy Chief of the India Army, Sh Tilak Deveshar former Senior Intelligence Officer, and Prof K Kamakothi from IIT Madras.
