· Rs. 2.51 crore refunded to complaints by cyber crime stations
Deputy Inspector General of Police, Cyber Crime Mohit Chawla called on Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Raj Bhavan here today and apprised him about cyber crime landscape in the State.
The Governor expressed concern over the increasing cases of cyber crime in the State and said that there was a need to strengthen cyber security measures. He highlighted the importance of increasing public awareness about cyber threats and educating citizens on how to protect themselves. Additionally, the Governor stressed the necessity for specialized training for police forces to effectively handle cyber crime cases. He commended the cyber crime team for their efforts in combating these challenges.
Shri Chawla informed the Governor that, as off now, 83 cases have been registered in cyber police stations, with 8,290 complaints received this year. He said that Rs. 2.51 crore has been refunded to complainants by cyber crime stations. Furthermore, he outlined the establishment of cyber commandos in Himachal Pradesh and the integration of the national cyber crime helpline 1930 with the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) to ensure real-time response to complaints.
